AMC PreVue, Week of January 5

Ryan and Greenlee's bliss is not contagious; Erica balks at the sight of the duo back together while Opal warns them against a holy union. Pete's plot to grab Colby's attention fails miserably. On Tuesday, January 6, Angie learns Rebecca may factor into her life a lot longer than she originally expected. Passion flares between Amanda and JR as Pine Valley's newest millionaire tries to convince her former mark to stop drinking. The reveal of Taylor's deception proves to be a positive catalyst for Brot and Taylor on Thursday, January 8.

A Closer Look: Shaky Ground
Erica's hits a nerve (Bianca's) when she voices her concern about the time Reese and Zach have been spending together. Is Miranda, Spike, Ian and Gabrielle's mother's mother full of bunk or just astute? On Monday, January 5, the effect Zach's close proximity has on Reese prompts the architect to put the kibosh on their friendship. The tension between Reese and Bianca continues to mount despite Reese's assurance that Erica's concerns are completely off base. Greenlee scoffs at Bianca's concerns but later takes notice of the dynamic going on between Reese and Zach. Still the cosmetic mogul and her fianc urge Bianca against testing her fianc. Erica, meanwhile, confronts Zach and Reese with her suspicions. Bianca decision to heed Ryan and Greenlee's advice goes straight out the window when she finds Reese in Zach's arms.

The Inside Story: All In a Day's Work

A sedated Krystal unabashedly attends the grand re-opening of the casino on David's arm. David's good mood improves when Krystal makes her hesitant feelings about Tad's imminent return obvious. A drunken JR's behavior at the casino serves to further delight the menacing doctor. But has David gone too far? On Wednesday, January 7, Amanda is unnerved to find a bloody oar and no sign of either David or JR after leaving them alone on her yacht. Back at Wildwind, the situation grows increasingly volatile as JR violently restrains David and demands admissions. Krystal tells a concerned Opal about the pills she's been taking. JR stops himself from killing David and walks out of Wildwind in disgust after realizing Krystal has been sleeping with David. Opal races to find Krystal when Tad arrives home early on Friday, January 9. Kathy, meanwhile, tells her father about David's visits. Krystal's day promises to get worse when JR arrives at the house poised to spill everything to Tad.

SON ALERTS: WEEK OF JANUARY 12, 2009

Monday: Tad demands the truth from Krystal. Bianca's plan backfires. Pete is heartbroken over Colby's rejection.
Tuesday: The jig could be up for Aidan. Tad plays hardball with Krystal. Randi's past comes back to haunt her.
Wednesday: Zach suspects that Erica is up to something. Aidan promises Annie that he'll help her. Josh vows revenge against Zach.
Thursday: David has dire news for Zach. Aidan coaches Annie on what to tell Dr. Sinclair. Opal questions Krystal about David's true motives.
Friday: Josh makes a desperate move. Amanda buys a pregnancy test. Angie and Jake team up to bring David down.

It looks like things are going to get ugly as Josh goes down for the count... and Zach's losses and guilt will be ratcheted up exponentially. January has historically been a good month of Zach angst and some of TK's best scenes have been in January over the years... hopefully he will be given the time and opportunity to show Zach in all of his complexity as he continues to lose the few people he cares about during another cold and devastating January.

While the Zot scene was an unexpected little treat, I find Brot's gratitude somewhat underwhelming. I wish Zach had someone who gave him even a fraction of the kind of empathy he showed Brot. But then, while to me, Brot didn't appreciate Zach enough - Reese seemed to appreciate Zach a little too much, but I for one certainly couldn't blame her for that stunned double take. Some things just cannot be parsed by me past a certain point. Happy New Year to all. I hope it doesn't suck as much as 2008 did!

As Kendall remains in a coma, Zach's faith in the love they share keeps him holding on to hope as he remembers some of the happy times they've shared. He takes Myrtle's advice and decides to be patient and wait for her to come back to him. "Love Of My Life" is a perfect song for a Zendall mvid as Kendall is truly the love of Zach's life. The song is by Jim Brickman with Michael W. Smith. I love Jim Brickman's music and have been working on videos to my favorite 3 songs of his - the other two are "My Heart Belongs To You" which I posted a few weeks ago and "The Gift" which will be finished tomorrow, hopefully. Thanks for watching & hope you enjoy.

Introducing myself

Hello Everyone:
I just joined the TK messageboard and look forward to hearing from others. I was especially motivated to do so since I just learned that Dianna Gabaldon's Outlander series of novels has been optioned to Essentials Productions. I think TK should be the only choice to play Dougal MacKenzie. Although the character is not the hero by any means, he is a rich and compelling character. Is anyone else familiar with the novels? Anyone else think TK would make a good Dougal? Hope to hear from others....

If this has been posted already, please forgive me. If it hasn't been, here is a part of Pratt interview from SOD/SOW:

As 2009 unfolds, Head Writer Charles Pratt Jr. promises "a lot more action and the big, grand love stories that this show has kind of lost".

Kendall/Zach: "Kendall has a lot to absorb in her first days back amongst the living and her reactions will not be as anticipated. Zach will find that Kendall is a bit altered. In a secret that I am not going to let out, Kendall will have, right before she wakes up, a medical procedure performed by David that should be pretty startling".

Reese/Bianca: "We are going to be doing a dual wedding with Ryan and Greenlee. The mystery would be that one of the weddings isn't going to happen".

Ryan/Greenlee: As fans know, Rebecca Budig is exiting. "For whatever happens to Greenlee, you might just see that Zach was involved", hints Pratt. "I am positioning to have probably the greatest conflict the show has ever seen, and putting it between two of the more popular characters on the show, and that is Zach and Ryan".

Now, the first thing that jumps out in the Ryan/Greenlee portion is, Pratt has been drinking the same cool-aid that Fronsie has been feeding every writer before him, because he actually believes Ryan is POPULAR character! I mean, the guy actually puts Ryan in the same sentence as Zach :rme: Secondly, is this redo/rehash of blackout story? The only thing I would consider "greatest conflict, and putting it between Zach and Ryan" is Spike custody battle. And whether Kendall gave paternity rights to the monkey or not, he was only a sperm donor, which means, he technically should have no rights to any of his donations! I would love for Zach to win that battle, especially since yesterday, the monkey was talking about making a family of four with Spike, Emma and the Green Thing.

And Pratt may not know that we already know 1) which wedding is not going to happen (dare I get my hopes up that if Reeks get married, they will be moving out of Casa Slater, finally?), 2) what medical procedure David is performing. Although, the secret might be, if Joshua convinces Dr. David to do the transplant, WITHOUT Zach first knowing where the heart is coming from! That would be startling, it would shake Zach up, but, but, but, I would rather see Zach and Josh make mends before the "procedure" is done :sigh:

Big, grand love stories? I am guessing Pratt's list is populated with Reeks and Jaylor and Frandie and above all, RYLEE . Even with RB leaving, I am sure it is not going to be the end of Rylee forever. Either she will come back, or Greenlee will be recast, because my money is on The Green Thing being pregnant when she leaves, without announcing it, so she can come back with a Lavery in tow when she comes to interrupt yet another wedding!
Someone needs to remind Pratt that the only big, grand love story the audience is really interested in is Zendall, the only thing that keeps the show alive!

Taylor puts a plan in motion after realizing Brot plans on leaving for good as soon as she's completely healed. Adam blames Amanda for his son's condition. A guilt-ridden Amanda tells JR he'd be better off without her in his life. Amanda finds JR fighting the urge to drink on Friday, January 2. Colby is unsettled by Krystal's relationship with David. Krystal can't fight the urge to be with David and drops the kids off with Winifred in order to get to him. On Tuesday, December 30, a guilty Krystal wakes up in the David's bed. Krystal learns Tad's missing. JR and Jake observe David and Krystal's bond. Jake pays for the price for sassing the chief of staff.

On New Year's Eve, Bianca is detained at home with Gabrielle and then Simon, Reese's former fianc. Zach and Reese, meanwhile, ring in the New Year with a friendly kiss. Zach and Reese dismiss their kiss and try to convince themselves it was nothing. Bianca worries that Reese is keeping secrets. Reese isn't happy to see Simon.

A Closer Look: Group Therapy
Ryan, Greenlee and a delusional and dangerous Annie's confrontation grows even more tense when Opal and Emma arrive at the penthouse. Greenlee distracts Annie while Ryan tries to regain his wits after being knocked unconscious. Aidan runs into trouble at Oak Haven on Monday, December 29. Ryan and Greenlee share a very romantic New Year's Eve. Greenlee initially rejects Ryan's marriage proposal but has a change of heart after a calming meeting with Opal. Opal later realizes she misread Greenlee's cards. Opal is convinced something horrific will happen if Greenlee marries Ryan. Aidan, meanwhile, discovers that Dr. Sinclair has been secretly videotaping Annie.

"AMC" will air encore presentations on Wednesday, December 31 (10/22/08) and be pre-empted on Thursday, January 1.

SON ALERTS: WEEK OF JANUARY 5, 2008

Monday: Bianca's suspicions are raised when she finds Reese with Zach. Krystal denies JR and Jake's accusations about her and David. Adam wants to know where he stands with Erica.
Tuesday: David is a step closer to getting what he wants. Zach and Erica don't see eye to eye. Amanda tries to stop JR from drinking.
Wednesday: JR takes action against David. Brot realizes Taylor has been lying to him. Bianca can't get past her insecurities.
Thursday: Opal accuses Krystal of having an affair with David. JR threatens to kill David if he doesn't come clean. Bianca decides to test Zach and Reese.
Friday: Tad learns Krystal has been spending time with David. Krystal tries to talk sense into JR. Erica confronts Zach and Reese.

While I like a little tension between Erica and Zach, and always thought that their antagonism towards each other had a nice spark -- it is ridiculous that Erica would for even one moment jump on Bianca's insecurity bandwagon. Hopefully they are not going to go back to that inexplicable hatred she felt towards him for so long... and will just put a little tension in there for the actors to exploit.

Bianca needs to face her insecurities and quit projecting her actions on others. One of my biggest complaints about Bianca for many years is her ability to magnify others' shortcomings while at the same time being unable to see or admit to her own. She uses people to get what she wants, yet is the most judgmental person on the show with absolutely no tolerance for anyone's mistakes except, of course, when she makes a one... then everyone is supposed to forgive and understand or be run over by her personal brand of sanctimony and self-righteousness.

I guess Pratt got the memo... Zach's losing no matter which way he turns.
