QUOTE
we're going to spread the wealth here and bestow the equally amazing Thorsten Kaye with our Performer of the Week honor. To say Zach had a bad week might be the understatement of the year, but Thorsten definitely made something good come out of it. From his intense anger at Kendall (and pretty much everyone he encountered), to his love and concern for his son, Zach's pain was palpable thanks to Thorsten. And when he accidentally broke his beloved Myrtle's picture and realized how out of control he was, we were in awe. Any time a tear sweeps down Zach Slater's cheek it kills us -- and that's all thanks to Mr. Thorsten Kaye.

All My Children: Week in Review for November 30, 2009

Funniest Moment: Tad and Jake are such realistic brothers, and we LOVE that. They support each other; they defend each other; and they constantly nag each other. And it's that persistent pestering that kept us laughing this week. Guacamole, anyone?

Performer of the Week: Since we already awarded "Best Moment" to the Amanda/Jake confession scene (thanks to Chrishell's and Ricky's AMAZING performances), we're going to spread the wealth here and bestow the equally amazing Thorsten Kaye with our Performer of the Week honor. To say Zach had a bad week might be the understatement of the year, but Thorsten definitely made something good come out of it. From his intense anger at Kendall (and pretty much everyone he encountered), to his love and concern for his son, Zach's pain was palpable thanks to Thorsten. Thanks for posting Sharon!     We have always known how superbly talented Mr. Kaye is  , but it is always nice to see others acknowledging it.

Now only if the dimwits at Emmys would realize what they have been missing out on!  They need to give him a  ASAP!

I'm late to the party, but thank you Sharon for posting.    It's really nice to see when they acknowledge the great work TK does.   He deserves so much more.

Posting this - from SOC's Dan Kroll- who went on record to praise the TK scenes in the casino last wk when Myrtle's picture was knocked off the wall.  A nice article- I'm only posting the relevant parts:

Quote:
For me, though, the highlight of the week came as a drunken Jake and Zach got into it at the casino. Zach tossed Jake across the room and into a wall. Suddenly, there was the unmistakable sound of shattering glass. As everyone looked downward, they saw that the cherished photo of Myrtle Fargate had been knocked to the ground. Throughout the scene, Thorsten Kaye said nothing. Tears slowly streamed from Zach's eyes -- and you knew exactly what he was feeling. I cannot remember the last time that any male character on daytime -- or primetime, for that matter -- displayed that kind of emotion. Jill Larson also held her own during this scene. While she delivered was essentially amounted to a monologue, Opal wasn't barely shown on camera. Instead, the camera slowly, almost painfully, drew us closer to Zach.

There was also an amusing exchange between Zach and Opal that I feel the need to comment on because it was perfect use of past storyline that shows the viewers that the writers do remember what they've written.

"There's no more tornado coming, so relax," Zach snapped to Opal as she expressed her concern that something bad was about to happen.

It was a perfectly timed jackassy thing to say. It isn't just storylines and character history that needs to be done well, it's also the dialogue that needs to be on point. Attention to simple things is just as important as remembering who's slept with who.

The relationship between Zach and Myrtle may go down as one of the best non-romantic pairings in All My Children history. There was just something… I'm not even sure that I can properly convey how I felt when Eileen Herlie and Thorsten Kaye got to share some on-screen time. It was just magic. I definitely miss not seeing Myrtle on-screen giving advice (solicited or unsolicited) to her boarders, but I think I miss her doubly when I think about how much I enjoyed "Myrtzach" together. It also makes me sad to know that there are no "oldtimers" on the show any more. There are no grandparents, no older residents to which the younger set can go to get those pearls of wisdom. I think that's a shame -- and it makes me a little sad.

Wow, this is more wonderful praise for Thorsten Kaye and especially Zyrtle magic.  Again, SO well deserved, and it is nice to read such acknowledgment from the media.

As for missing the grandparents and old-timers, people like James Mitchell and Ray McDonnell (sp?) are getting up in the age, and they perhaps are not able to work as many hours as they used to.  But they have already been Great Grand Parents on the show for the past few years.  SADLY, THE REAL GRANDPARENT GENERATION REFUSES TO ACT THEIR AGES!  Erica can't even refer to Spike/Ian/Miranda/Gaby as her "grand" kids, they are "her daughters' children".  It is really sad that people like Adam and Erica are too focused on their desire to jump InsAnnie and RyASS, instead of being decent parents or God forbid, loving, WISE grand parents!  They don't have any "pearls of wisdom" to share, they are too busy setting bad examples for their adult children to follow.

My favorites are # 1 "Crushworthy, seriously" (NO KIDDING!) and the last one # 14 "The Whole Package" (AGAIN, NO KIDDING!), and all the ones in-between.  Soapnet did a good job picking some of his best pics, and I like that they included his hockey love and his EH affection (referred to him wearing the button as classy)!
